FAQs

I tried to think of all the questions a renter might have for me. If I missed anything, let me know!

Q) Will I be alone in the studio when I rent?

A) I (Jenn) will be on the premise during every rental, working in my office.  The space for shooting can be made private by the curtains we have installed on a track in the space.

Q) Do I have to provide business insurance? What if I don't have any?

A) I require that all renters have business insurance up to one million dollars.  This is non-negotiable.  I can provide you with my insurance agent's number if you need a referral.

Q) Where can I/my clients park when we rent your space?

A) There are a few 2-hour meters right in front of our space and down along 1st Ave.  There is also a pay lot approximately 2 blocks from the studio with the entrance just off of University Ave across from West Photo/Surdyks.  There is no private lot for our space.

Q) I only want to rent for an hour, why do you not offer that option?

A) Typically there is more than the actual shooting time, there is setup, take down, chat time with clients, etc.  That adds up and I want to avoid any double booking.  When you are planning your time in the studio, keep in mind that arrival, setup, shoot, take down and leaving must take place within the time you have reserved.  We may be able to accommodate additional hours on the day of a shoot, at a rate of $25/hr, subject to availability.

Q) My client wants to bring an animal in for the shoot, is this possible?

A) Yes, on a case-by-case basis.  We do have a cat on the premise but if I am made aware of another animal coming for a shoot and you have prior approval, she can be kenneled in another part of the space.  Please make sure you get prior approval from me before booking a client with a pet.

Q) How far in advance can I book?

A) At this point we are taking reservations up to 30 days in advance.

Q) What happens if my shoot gets cancelled, do I get a refund?

A) Deposits are non-refundable under any circumstances.

Q) If I and a friend want to go in on a 4-hour rental, can we do that?  Can we split the payment?

A) You are more than welcome to share the time you reserve with however many people you want to.  Just keep in mind that everyone needs to be done on time, no exceptions.  You will be required to still leave the 50% deposit at the time of booking and the remainder is due on the day of the shoot.

Q) What happens if I am running late, or my client is running late? Can we extend the time? Does my time start when I or they arrive?

A) The time you reserve is the time you have. Extensions of rental times is subject to availability.

Q) Can I use the studio for client meetings?

A) Yes, you can use the space for client meetings.  The rates for that are the same as renting for shoots.
